TISA Names Abdullah al Mamun as President

Dr. Iqbal Unus (TISA Board Chair) announced at the 2026 commencement ceremony that TISA’s Chief Strategy Officer, Abdullah al Mamun, had been appointed by the TISA Board of Trustees as the next President of The Islamic Seminary of America. “Since joining the TISA team in August of 2025, President-designate Mamun has made a major positive impact as Chief Strategy Officer,” stated Dr. Unus. “We have no doubt that he will continue to make even greater contributions in his new role,” Unus further stated.

Before joining TISA, Mamun had over 21 years of experience in nonprofit and education environments. He has served as Deputy Director of the Muslim Legal Fund of America, Senior Project Manager at Khair Media, National Youth Director for Muslim Umma of North America, and Vice President of Advancement at Bayan Islamic Graduate School. During his relatively short tenure at TISA, he contributed greatly by shepherding a TISA 10-year strategic plan and leading an effort that more than doubled donations during Ramadan. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Middle Eastern Studies from Fordham University and a master’s in Graphic Communication Management and Technology from New York University. He is currently pursuing a doctorate in Humanitarian Leadership at the Zakat Foundation Institute.

Stepping into this role is both an honor and a responsibility that I do not take lightly. I step into this role with humility, gratitude, and a strong sense of responsibility.” — Abdullah al Mamun
