Master of Divinity Degree (M.Div.) Concentrations:

Religious Leadership and Islamic Chaplaincy

Description: The Master of Divinity (MDiv) is for those students who want to pursue a career as an imam, scholar-in-resident or chaplain. The concentration in Religious Leadership is intended for those who are interested in a career as an imam or scholar. The concentration in Islamic Chaplaincy is intended for those who desire a career as a chaplain.

Arabic Proficiency: TISA does not require a certain level of Arabic proficiency upon entry. However, it is preferable that entering students attain at least a passing grade on the Level 1 assessment of our Quranic Arabic language partner, Fawakih Institute. TISA MA students are required to attain a passing grade on Fawakih Institute’s assessment at Level 2. TISA MDiv students are required to attain a passing grade on Fawakih’s assessment at Level 4. (The assessment can be found at www.fawakih.org/placement.)

Qur’anic Proficiency: Before graduating with a TISA MA
or MDiv degree, students are required to memorize 1 juz of Qur’an with Tajwid.
