On January 23, 2022, 16 students were present for our very first TISA Short Course which was entitled “Race and the US Civil Rights Movement: Teaching Muslim Adults & Children.” Students included a college professor, school teachers, and several community activists. Topics explored in the class included the Quranic and Prophetic perspectives on “race” and racism.
The second of this 3 part course will include discussions on the US Eugenics movement and the beginnings of the US Civil Rights movement. The course is ably taught by TISA professors Dr. Jimmy Jones and Dr. Khabirah Yahya.
